Most new computers come packaged with flat panel LCD monitors. These monitors can be bought on their own fairly cheaply and they're now the standard for most computers. It's fairly unusual to see new CRT monitors being sold, although you can pick these up for a very low price on the second hand market if you're looking to save yourself some money.
However, although you might be able to save a load of cash by buying a second hand CRT monitor, it's not always necessary as brand new LCD monitors are also often very cheap! There are plenty available in high street stores for less than one hundred pounds, and in some cases you might be able to buy one for even less on the second hand market!
However, you don't necessarily need to use a purpose built monitor with your computer. Many people will opt to use a cheap LCD TV instead. The advantage of this is that you view the images from your computer on a much larger screen than usual, so it's really useful for people who like to view films and TV programs on their computers! You can pick up a cheap LCD TV for a great price from most electronics retailers. However, you'll need to make sure that it has the appropriate connections to use with a computer. You'll also need to make sure that you computer has the right kind of graphics card too.
